Sunyani Technical University (STU) honoured one of its distinguished alumnae, Madam Vera Enyonam Osei Kwakye, Chief Executive Officer of Ericose Enterprise Limited, as a Special Guest and Speaker at the University’s 18th Congregation Ceremony. A woman of resilience, courage, and exceptional work ethic, Madam Kwakye’s presence and address left a lasting impression on the Class of 2025.

In her address, Madam Kwakye, who has risen successfully in a male-dominated industry, expressed gratitude to the University, particularly the Vice-Chancellor, for the invitation. She described STU as a foundation that shaped her professional journey and entrepreneurial mindset. She applauded the graduands for their determination and urged them to face the future with confidence, courage, and purpose.

Speaking on the theme “Sustainable Skills Development for Global Job Creation and Employability,” Madam Kwakye emphasised that the skills acquired at STU, technical competence, creativity, problem-solving, and innovation, are not only tools for employment but powerful instruments for entrepreneurship and job creation. She encouraged graduates to see themselves as global citizens capable of creating solutions beyond local boundaries.

She highlighted sustainable skills as those that endure industry changes, combining technical expertise with communication, ethics, leadership, digital literacy, creativity, and environmental consciousness. According to her, these competencies are essential for long-term relevance in today’s evolving global economy.

Madam Kwakye further shared three practical steps for starting a business: identifying real problems, leveraging acquired skills, and embracing perseverance and continuous learning. She stressed that employability goes beyond certificates, noting that integrity, honesty, adaptability, and empathy are critical assets in business and professional life.

In a remarkable show of commitment to STU’s growth, Madam Kwakye donated GHS 10,000 to the University’s Endowment Fund and pledged to sponsor two top-performing students in the coming year.

Her speech was widely applauded, standing as a powerful testament to STU’s impact in producing confident, ethical, and industry-ready graduates.
